RE: how do you ignore the pesty fellow camper/neighbor

I think there are a lot of old grumps on this site.
Nah, mostly a lot of wannabe comedians.
Hey, I resemble that remark!

RE: Travel America Pay at the Pump Limits

I talked to my Banker about this problem and he said it is the credit card company that sets the limits. The reason is that most card fraud is from credit purchases where you don't have to sign. At the pump I punch the pay inside button. After filling I pay inside with my credit card. I however won't leave my card with the clerk while I fill.
Just to clarify, it's not the bank that issues the card that sets the limit, it's the company that the station uses that sets the limit.
I've used the same card at many stations. Some have a $75 limit, some have no limit.

RE: I am finaly back and retiring from the US Army!

Your wife wants you to sell? Well, retirement is a change of life, and I'm sure after a while, you'll get used to not having her around.;)
Just kidding, just kidding.
Thank you for your service to our country. Our families sleep safe at night thanks to brave men and women like yourself.
Try planning some trips together. There have to be places you've always wanted to see, but didn't have the time.

RE: Laundry Etiquette

I thought I was being extravagant by ordering my Newmar Ventana with a washer and dryer. I'm now glad I did it.

RE: Class A vs. Class C

If you have 3 and 4 year olds, look at the bunkbed models. You can put the kids to bed and still have the living area available.
I have an almost 2 year old and a 4 year old, so I ordered a bunkbed Newmar Ventana. I went with Newmar because it was the only one with bunkbeds, enough towing capacity to pull my Road Runner on a trailer and I could afford it.
If you don't need to tow over 5000 pounds, then there are several options of Class As with bunkbeds.
Do a search in the Class A forum for bunkbeds.

RE: Why'd you buy Coke? Said my daughter . . .

If you like Coke, and somebody hands you a Pepsi, just open the can and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then it will taste like Coke.

RE: Motorhome Magazine

I bought the digital subscription. I tried many times to get access to download archived reviews, and they never did figure it out.
A few days ago, I get a print version of the magazine, and I don't know why.

RE: Child Seat in Class A MH

My 2000 Coachman class C has a barrel chair that faced sideways. It can I unbolted it and rotated it 90 degrees so it faced forward. Until my son was 1 year old, his car seat was mounted rear facing and then after that it mounted it forward facing. There is a tether strap that goes from the top down to the base of the barrel chair. My problem is he is now four and outgrowing it. The vehicle doesn't have any shoulder harnesses except in the front seats. There is no place or use for a booster seat.
I have an Alpha Elite booster for my 4 year old. You can strap it in just using the lap belt and use the internal 5 way harness up to something like 65 pounds.

RE: Would you consider buying a new Class A today?

I have one on order. It should arrive in early June. Yes, I will pay more to feed it, but my family is worth it.

RE: 1968 Travel Travel Trailer - No Electric Water Pump?

He told me today he might paint it red and put some woodgrain on the side to match the Fury wagon. I hope he does.
we need pictures...
I only saw it at Carlisle when he agreed to buy it, and I didn't have my camera. If I remember to take my camera, I'll take pictures of it when I pick up my Road Runner from him. He restored it last year, and is finishing up some odds and ends now.

RE: Should Class A drivers require a special license?

I've ordered my first MH, and other than the test drive, I haven't driven a vehicle with air brakes.
People talk about getting an air brake endorsement. Other than waiting for the pressure to build up and keeping an eye on the pressure, what else is there to know from a driver's perspective?
I'll bet the majority of people who drive cars have no idea what a master cylinder is on their car, or much else about their braking system. They just know that the wide pedal makes the car stop.
Just curious.

RE: 1968 Travel Travel Trailer - No Electric Water Pump?

That things an antique! Pressurizing with air? I guess that system is more like a "house" system. Maybe I'm not as old as I think. That's a new one on me.
Hey by the way, when is that little guy gonna shift into forth gear?
He caught 1st 2nd and 3rd pretty good. http://images.ugoto.com/emoticons/lol.gif
I only have 3.23 gears, so if I wind it up, I might not hit 4th by the end of the 1/4. Either that or it's just a 1/8 mile track. :B

1968 Travel Travel Trailer - No Electric Water Pump?

A friend just bough a 1968 travel trailer (forget the make/model). The previous owner said that you hook up an air hose to pressurize the water tank instead of using an electric water pump. There is an air fitting.
There are some pipes that need to be repaired, so he hasn't tested it yet.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of system? Any concerns, tips, tricks, etc.?
He bough it to pull with his 1968 Plymouth Fury wagon, which will be very cool!

RE: Should Class A drivers require a special license?

We are not allowed to drive while using a mobile phone here in England! and why do you call it a Cell Phone!!! strange!!!
Because it's used on a cellular network.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_network
Driving while using a cell phone is not as dangerous as driving on the wrong side of the road like you do! :p

RE: Camp Grounds around Washington DC

Gettysburg is a bit far from DC, and the traffic would just make it worse. I'd plan on camping in the Gettysburg area to see Gettysburg, then move down to Cherry Hill to visit DC.
I agree. You'll spend 2 hours or more each way from Gettysburg into DC.

RE: Now I've heard it all!

Some people are just too sensitive. This weekend I only had my banjo out along with my fifteen 20" woofers and somebody came over to complain.
I guess some people just dont like banjos.Doubt if it was the Banjo, more likely the 20" woofers.
Geeze, I thought he was kidding. If not, he may be part of the problem.
Or it's a reference to a recent, long thread on whether or not playing a banjo at a campsite is okle dokle or annoying.

RE: Bunkhouse class A

You may want to wait until the 2009 Newmar models are revealed. I have a 2009 brochure and there are a few new bunk models for 2009.
I have a 2009 Ventana with bunkbeds on the way. If you want to tow more than 5000 pounds and not pay the GDP of a small country for your class A MH, then Newmar is the way to go.
The Newmar Ventana, All Star and (new floorplan for 2009) Dutch Star all have bunkbed floorplans.
